Summary: Motorola H9 Bluetooth - Don't believe the hype
Comment: So hehe i thought was finally the answer to the bluetooth dilema, at least the one that i face, between functionality and trying to look cool. i cannot stand my motorola h500, the thing looks too much like it is from the set of some old star trek episode. not to mention the fact that i still see people wearing the bluetooth headsets and thinking to myself what a dork they are...until my own starts ringing in my ear and i realize i am just like them. alaong comes the h9. wow, this is gonna be sweet. yes, it is small, but not quite as small as it appears in the pictures. i guess mr. beckham has rather large ears. the rubber grommet that mounts on the h9 that seals it into your ear canal is ok, quite comfy, at least for the first 15 minutes. after that it becomes bothersome and itchy. they should have used foam similar to what ear plugs are made out of instead. now, functionality. they boast 30 feet. my phone crakcle when i put it in my pocket. try miore like three feet for the range. clarity? my girlfriend absolutely will not talk to me on the phone anymore if i am using it. i still don't know if that is good or bad...
in conclusion, i guess it comes down to the age old question of form vs. functionality. which do you prefer?

Summary: LET THE NOISE IN!!!!
Comment: Well....I've owned this bluetooth for at least four months now; I bought this the first week of release. The anticipation was great,I read every article and review on the H9 that I could. I so wanted this headset to live up to all it's hipe, but it fell well short of that. First off I am totally use to wearing in ear headphones in fact I prefer them over the standard over the ear variety. But with the H9 I've yet to find any of the ear pieces that fit correctly, none of them stay in, I'm constantly pushing it back in my ear. That really sucks! The good thing is I can hear the party I'm talking to very clearly, but the awful thing is they can't hear me very well. The caller says I sound like I'm under a rock. Whats even worse is when I'm in a noisy environment the caller can hear everything else around me except me, the caller can only make out half of what I am Saying because the unit is picking up all the back ground noise and I mean all the noise. The main reason I bought this unit is because Motorola kept bragging about how well the H-9 works in noisy enviroments. It was also a little larger then I thought. The base that charges the headset does not last long I have to recharge the whole unit and base about every two days, wheather I use the headset or not. I have the real unit and not the fake one because I ordered it directly from Motorola. It took me a long time to write this review because frankly I'm embarrassed by making this purchase, I consider myself to be Techo Savvy and I kept telling all my friends how wonderful this headset was going to be. This is the first time I ever made a bad informed purchase. I can not recommend the Motorola Mini Blue H-9 in good faith to anyone but my worse enemy. I'm being very generous in giving this two stars. The concept was great, but they need to start over from scratch...

Summary: Nice Design, Poor Reception
Comment: Purchased in mid-June 2007.
I had an old Motorola HS820 over-the-ear bluetooth headset, which worked well. Due to the fact that the rubber ear cushion was separating, I had to replace it.

After looking for an inner-ear bluetooth headset, I chose the Motorola H9. I really wanted an inner-ear one so I could hear conversations much easier and it would be more comfortable. That couldn't be further from the truth.

First I will start with the good points of the H9
- I do like the fact that it is inner-ear. Makes it a bit easier to hear in loud surroundings.
- Extra ear-tips to accomodate any sized ear canal
- Sleek design and cool blue light
- Can work in either ear without any modifications
- Convenient that you can get an additional charge from the base

Now onto the bad points of the H9
- Too much static. I'm still using my Palm Treo 650 and when I had my HS820, I woud have very little static. Now that I'm using the H9, I have a lot of static.
- Small range. The H9 claims to have a range of about 30 feet. My old Hs82 had a range of about 25 feet before it would begin to break up. The H9 has a range of about 10-15 feet, and even that is pushing it. I literally have to have the Palm Treo right next to me to get any sort of a decent signal
- Delay when answering a call. When I push the button on the H9 to answer a call, there is a 5-7 second delay. I am literally saying, "hello" about 2-3 times.
- Very short talk time. Motorola claims that the H9 has a talk time of 7.5 hours. I unfortunately have talked on a fully-charged H9 for about one hour before I would hear the beep in my ear, signifying that the battery is low.
- Very small size equal ease of getting lost. Now it is not Motorola's fault if you lose your H9 due to it's dimunitive size, so bear in mind that there is no way to affix a strap or loop to the H9. The only thing you can do is keep it in your pocket.

All-in-all, I was very dissappointed with the quality of this product. For a price of about $150.00, I expected better reception and battery life.

If I could return it, I would.

Summary: Excellent headset
Comment: I'm worried about all the negative reviews, especially with where the reviewers purchased the headphone. 95% of the Motorola H5/H9 sold on eBay are fake ones, in a non-sealed package, with a charger base that has a VERTICAL battery icon. The real on has a HORIZONTAL battery icon. The Fake headsets sounds HORRIBLE, and does not have the in-ear mic only an external mic.

Summary: Buy something else
Comment: The H9 looked great on the box. But like other reviewers have noted, it has many shortfalls.
It overheats inside your ear canal if you try to hold a longer conversation using it. But this isn't much of a concern since it doesn't stay charged long enough to allow the temperature to get too high.
The worst probelm though is the lack of support from Motorola. I've been told 'buyer beware' - I purchased the headset in Canada, where it 'has not been released yet.' In other words, no service.
