Summary: Easy, Quick & Yummy
Comment: My fiance and I have been searching for a cookbook we would actually use and after thumbing through books at Target we decided on this one. We've had it a week and have made the mustard chops, stir fry and the cornish hens. I've loved all of them! We varied a little like using potatoes with the chops, added more veggies and used poultry seasoning and tony's on the hens. We love the fact that we can shop and keep the majority of the ingrediants in the pantry and stop at the store for fresh fish, meat or veggies to make our meal. Pretty much all the recipes have 6-10 ingredients. A few had items I never heard of but if you go to her website you can find descriptions and/or alternatives. I see some of the review state that her recipes are not low fat...but shes not trying to sell it as a low fat cookbook. I think that you could probably get away with making some of her recipes healthier by using less oil or trimming fat from meat! I love the fact that she includes the same ingrediant is multiple recipes...so that I'm not spending money on something just to use a teaspoon of it! So all in all I'm really happy with this book and looking forward to trying many more of her recipes!
I really do recommend this book to anyone...new cooks, families, newlyweds, singles...basically everyone!! :)

Summary: Good Food Fast
Comment: I absolutely love this book. I think I've made more recipes from its pages than any cookbook I've ever purchased. The recipes are simple and tasty and the philosophy of cooking will inspire you to try other dishes. Nigella Lawson's prose style is a very enjoyable read as well. While many of the dishes are British, it's very simple to adjust her free form style of cooking to American tastes. One caution: by Express she doesn't mean a Rachael Ray-style 30 minutes or less guarantee. Some recipes cook up in minutes, others slow cook, but take a minimum of effort.

Summary: great writing, but the dishes did not appeal to me
Comment: I went through this book of recipes and only found a couple of dishes appealing to me. Usually when I go through a cookbook, it makes me get very excited and want to try them all, but not this one. Maybe it's because she starts off with a couple of fish dishes that I would never have thought of as 'express' dishes. So, I'm not commenting on her ability to cook, just on the recipes' appeal to me.
