Summary: a wonderful addition
Comment: after reading all sorts of reviews on products, I decided to give this a try. I have a bedroom in our finished basement that tends to be a little chilly during the winter time and have been looking for a good heater to help keep it a little warmer. I've had the heater for a few weeks now and am actually looking to get another one. It has far exceeded my expectations. within a fairly short time 5-10 min approx. it took a 12x18 room and took it from 61 to 70 degrees. I tried it in our family room(15x32) downstairs this past weekend and left it down there for a couple hours while we were upstairs doing stuff and came down to watch a movie on our big screen in a very warm comfortable setting. Dynamite truly comes in small packages. great product and I love the safety features as well.

Summary: CERAMIC HEATER
Comment: This is exactly what I was looking for. It arrived looking a bit used. It seems that it does uses alot of power and I found the elctrical wires to the wall socket does get very heated. So I suggest supervision when in use, also do not leave it plugged in. It does heat a small room quickly.

Summary: Great price for shoddy manufacturing.
Comment: SPT SH-1508 Tower Ceramic Heater with Ionizer
I would have to give this rating a one star unfortunately. THe heater while in itself is a great cost you must be warned of the manufacturing of the product itself. I have two of these heaters purchased within a few weeks of each other. One worked well, we were so pleased that we ordered another (my roomies and myself) unfortunately the first one came broken, making a horrible clicking sound and the company (SPT)has refused to help. Amazon did send a replacement for the first and then the second one arrived making an horrible buzzing noise. Amazon was not willing to replace this one. Today is the 8th week of owning both the heaters. THe first one's face plate caught fire today because of poor wiring used in the assembly of the heater, and the second one I am afraid will do the same. This product almost set fire to my house and everything that we own.
I cannot reccomend this product to anyone. Although the price is fine (money wise) is it really worth risking far much more than sixty something dollars if it costs you your life? I do not think so. I am so upset by this that I will write to amazon.com today strongly recommending that this product be removed from their site. Because if three products have thus far been malfunctioning who knows how many more of these are out there will similar situations. So far I have found over 200 similar stories about this product. Thank you for your time and I wish you the best of luck in finding whateever it may be that you are looking for.
Happy Holidays everyone.

Summary: Great after some customization
Comment: My store-bought Lasko bit the dust after only a few months, so I decided to try the heater I'd wanted to get in the first place - the SPT SH-1508. For all of it's benefits, it suffers from the same problem as the Lasko - making a completely unnecessary LOUD BEEP every single time you press a button to do anything. I got to thinking maybe I can get inside and disable or at least muffle the little speaker inside. And that's what I did.
I removed the back of the unit with a screwdriver and found that the speaker resides on the little circuit board underneath the top plate (where the buttons are). I unscrewed the little circuit board from the plate to be able to reach the speaker. I rolled a little electrical tape into a tiny cylinder and stuffed it in the hole in the speaker, then sealed it over with another square of tape. Please note that taking the unit apart DOES void the warranty, but for me it's worth having quiet operation, which I now enjoy. Also, if you're going to try this make sure the unit is UNPLUGGED first!
Another thing that bugged me about the unit was their idea of "tip-over protection." There's just a little spring-loaded switch that gets tripped if the bottom of the unit isn't flush against a hard surface. Makes it annoying when you go to move the heater and it shuts off. So again, a little tape and the switch is permanently in. I can reposition the heater without interruption of operation. Don't get me wrong, I think tip-over protection is a good idea, but there should be a sensor that checks to make sure the unit is up-right, not the cheap work-around they've implemented.
So NOW I've got a heater I can live with. The fan-only option is a great feature, although it's very weak. Don't worry about the older complaints about the screen being too bright at night - the newer models now have the bright backlight shut off a few seconds after you press a button. Who knows if the ionizer is for real or not. I kind of doubt it, but I can pretend.

Summary: I didn't like it.
Comment: I returned it due to the low-fan speed not working, the fan was always on high speed, even when in low-heat mode. But, I also noticed, when in auto mode, when it came close to the set temp it would switch from high heat to low heat (I noticed by feeling the heat with my hands, as my unit's fan was stuck on high all the time), but it wouldn't cycle off because it didn't reach it's set temp yet, but this made it run alot longer to reach the set temp. If it just stayed in high heat mode until it reaches the set temp then it would cycle off sooner. So, I didn't like the way it worked - plus when it's real cold out, it may never be able to reach the set temp since it goes into low heat mode when it gets close. I think this is a design flaw.
