Rather than simply bemoaning the passage of time and the onslaught of physical changes of the forties, these pieces manage a more insightful look at the creative, spiritual and emotional growth woman can achieve during this important, transformative decade, regardless of life stage. The stories these women tell are poignant, inspiring, interesting, vivid and real. I received a copy on my fortieth birthday, seven years ago, and recently bought a copy for a good friend of mine who turned forty in February.
