Summary: Not As Good As Evolution
Comment: I am a big fan of Robin, and was surprised to find so many reviews on here saying that this album is better than the Evolution of Robin Thicke. There is no way this album can compare. The Evolution was original sound, and this album, Something Else, is basically a copy of everyone he knows. I am only 23, but I am knowledgable about music, and on this album, he copies everyone from Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Sade and Bob Dylan. His Dylan sound actually really irks me. I find that I get that song in my head and can't get it out and I want to scream. I do not think that he put his whole soul into this album, as he did with Evolution.
That being said, I absolutely love Robin, and there are songs that I do like on this album, maybe 25%. I love The Sweetest Love, but I know a lot of people will not because it is so repetitious. I love the fact that he released it as his next single, but I already see people rolling their eyes when it comes on. This album wont give him a chart topper like Lost Without You, because he relied too much on old sound in this album. Sidestep is a great song, but sounds like Barry White/R. Kelly, Something Else is okay, but boring, Shadow of Doubt is that irritating Bob Dylan-like song and Tie My Hands is the worst song on the album, Lil' Wayne not doing for this album what he did for Evolution. I love you Robin, but please take your time releasing your fourth album!

Summary: Disappointing!!!
Comment: I was hoping for another Evolution 12 tight tracks that were well made, well produced and very consistant, instead this album is more experimental (Duh, Hence the name "Something Else") with Robin trying out a more Bob Dylan type of 60's rock sound. Aside from the Tracks where I feel he's experimenting with a new type of sound, He's got solid cuts on the album with "You're My Baby", "Magic" "Ms. Harmony", "Dreamworld" (Dreamworld is my favorite track on the album and also used this season on an episode of HBO's Entourage) "Loverman" and "Tie My Hands". 6 out 12 songs that are pretty good...not bad right?

Summary: Never received
Comment: Unfortunately, I never received this CD. The seller was really nice and sent my credit back promptly which was well appreciated, but my cd was lost in the mail. Always request express so you can get a tracking #. Lesson Learned:-)

Summary: One of 2008's Best
Comment: I don't normally write reviews, but I had to make an exception here.
I didn't care much for The Evolution of Robin Thicke, but he has definitely redeemed himself with Something Else! It is rare that I purchase a CD and can listen to it from beginning to end. I love, love, LOVE this CD, and I think he deserves a Grammy (or two) for this great musical accomplishment!
More Reviews for Something Else
Editorial Review for Something Else:
Robin Thicke is primed and ready for Something Else. "It was like everyone was saying the same things, worried about the same things and I just felt we needed something different right now. I asked myself do I have a light? What is that light? How can I spread it, share it and turn it into a Puff Daddy white linen Miami Beach party?" After his highly acclaimed 1.5 million selling album "The Evolution of Robin Thicke" garnering the smash hit "Lost Without U", a tireless schedule of touring and appearances Robin needed to sit back, reflect on the last 2 years and start anew."On the last album I wanted to let people into my walk of life and connect my life to them and this album is more about involving great minds, hearts and spirits around me. When I started writing songs I was already embracing people and now I just wanted to dance and laugh with them". With that spirit driving the creative process Robin has penned some of the best songs of his career from the retro meets modern groove of the first single "Magic", the upbeat celebration of "Sidestep" to the picturesque "Dreamworld" he is taking the listener on a musical journey that is truly unique, sexy and invigorating. Something Else is exactly the kind of record that the world needs right now to feel inspired again.
