Summary: works great with Attend for ADHD
Comment: Use with Attend for ADHD symptoms for 17 year old. This product along with Attend have changed his life. Says that things that use to bother him don't anymore. Has not gotten in trouble at school for 2 semesters (since he started the products) If I could sell this stuff I would, that's how much I believe in it. A wonderful alternative to prescription ADHD drugs that never helped my son, except for weight loss and negative side effects. Go VAXA!

Summary: Might be Dangerous!!!
Comment: I bought Vaxa Attend and Extress for my 7 year old son who was diagnosed with ADHD as an alternative to medication. I thought we would try the homeopathic route first. After the first day of trying it, I did notice a big difference at school and at home. He was calmer and able to concentrate on his school work for longer periods of time. His school even called me in for a parent-teacher meeting after two weeks on the remedy to tell me how he's improved. But there were two concerns that led me to the decision to discontinue these remedies:

1. He started to wet the bed. My analysis is that the remedy makes him sleep deeper; therefore he is unable to wake himself to go to the bathroom, and therefore wets his bed. Not too bad, I could have managed, if this was the only reason. He was very uncomfortable with this side effect and wanted to quit.

2. The second concern which is very alarming is that I did some online research about the ingredients of these remedies. Both Attend and Extress have 5HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan). As per my understanding, 5HTP by itself is ok, but once you add it to Vitamin B6, the liver converts it to serotonin which is then excreted by the urine and very little if any gets into the brain. It is believed that this extra load of serotonin in the body is harmful. Note: Attend and Extress do not have vitamin B6 in it's ingredients.

Therefore I decided it wasn't worth the risk, and took my son off it after only 3 weeks. Even though I don't give him any multiple vitamins, but I can't measure the amount of B6 he's getting from natural resources (spinach, bell peppers, turnip greens, garlic, tuna, cauliflower, mustard greens, banana, celery, cabbage, crimini mushrooms, asparagus, broccoli, kale, collard greens, Brussels sprouts, cod and chard )

A passage from the website:
At the very best, people who take B-vitamins with 5-HTP, or
who take 5-HTP products with B6, waste their money. All this
would be merely humorous (caveat emptor) were it not for some
other facts. At worst, ignorant people fooling with 5-HTP
actually risk their health, since serotonin in the peripheral
blood is not benign. Serotonin causes not only harmless flushing
and diarrhea, but people with serotonin secreting tumors (hindgut
carcinoids) also have problems with fibrosis of the endocardium
and valves in their right hearts, which can cause heart failure.

Summary: great herbal remedy
Comment: I bought these pills for a friend that was having frequent panic attacks. I considered these because they are an herbal remedy and I believe in trying herbs first. After taking them for about a week he completely changed. The panic attacks stopped and he now take things in a more receptive way. Sometimes I am very surprised at how calm he is!! I just bought a second bottle. They are great!!
