Summary: BEST GIFT EVER
Comment: RECEIVED AS A WEDDING GIFT 2 YEARS AGO, AND HAVE SINCE BOUGHT 3 ZARAFINA TEA MAKERS AS GIFTS FOR OTHERS. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH OURS, AND I USE IT MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. IT MAKES A PERFECT CUP OF TEA. NOW I CAN REGULARLY ENJOY GREEN TEA, WHICH IS PARTICULARILY HARD TO GET RIGHT. I'VE USED OTHER TEA MAKERS BEFORE-BOTH IN ENGLAND AND AUSTRALIA, WHERE THEY ARE VERY COMMON, AND THE ZARAFINA IS HANDS DOWN BETTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE OUT THERE.

Summary: An unfortunate waste of money.
Comment: Had this for a little over a year, and used it sporadically but was generally satisfied. Care was taken of the proper parts, but it stopped boiling water one morning.

I called the customer support number (the call center involved obviously handles multiple products as I was greeted with a different company name before they corrected themselves) anyhow long story short they were next to useless as apparently it had just gone out of warranty - so they said I had to go to an authorized repair centre (ok, wasn't happy but still wanted this fixed)...however they don't have a repair center in the entire state! The recommendation was to take it to a general appliance repair center..?!? As if they'd know what to do with this.

So for a product that only lasts for a year I can't say I'm impressed with the company or the value of the product. Shame.

Summary: Good tea, finicky hardware
Comment: I enjoy the tea this makes, both bagged and loose. It has all the settings you need to make most all tea.

Soon after buying it however, it stopped dispensing tea. It would over heat and burn the tea every time, and never open up the dispenser. I sat on hold for an hour waiting for tech support before I gave up. However, I found out that unplugging it and plugging it back in after a few seconds made it start working again. It must run Windows. It started doing it again a few days later, and power cycling it did the trick again. So now every night I unplug it and haven't had trouble.

Summary: Great for the Price
Comment: My mother rarely used her tea leaves until we bought her this. After she prepped it she drinks several cups of tea a day now. It only makes two full cups of tea and you have to make sure that the teapot is lined up just right, otherwise it won't release the tea into it. Read the instructions, and be sure to not get the electrical parts wet. One thing it does not do is remain heated once in the pot. So if you forget about your tea and come back, it's cold. I saw this sort of product on The View, however it was $350 and all digital. This one is much more classy to leave on a cozy corner of your counter top for a third of the price.

Summary: A poorly engineered device
Comment: I have always been a tea lover - and the ad for Zarafina, promising a perfect cup every time, caught my eye. As an 'early adopter' I paid $150 for it. The machine does make a good cup of tea but it has several annoying shortcomings:

* it is small - 2 cups max, and then you have to wash it

* When you do wash it, must remember to put a rubber protector onto a protruding part of tank. This is a primitive engineering solution.

* I have found it 100% impossible to pour a cup of tea out of the machine without spilling some on the table. I am pretty handy with things, but the teapot is badly designed, a few drops always get on the table, and I mean always.

So, after trying to use it for a few months and making 20 or 30 pots of tea, I am going to get rid of mine.
